Vista vs XP--The 10 resons to go wid xp!!

Its been quite a while that I had a post here. So folks here I am-back again with yet another Interesting post. >And the reason behind the post is quite strange.. I was asked to find the features of Vista{By my teacher :) } and I end up bringing about 10 striking reasons why people are quite content with XP though there is this latest version available. So lets digg deeper into the post..

1.Security
From a security standpoint, there's just not a lot to compel XP shops to upgrade. Many of the issues addressed by Vista have already been resolved under Windows XP using in-house applications or third-party tools.[ read more...]

2.Manageability
Moving to Vista provides little or no ROI from a systems management perspective. Yes, the new image-based installation model is a welcome addition. However, the lack of significant innovation in other areas makes Vista's management story less than compelling.[read more...]

3.Reliability
There is little or no clamor in the Windows XP community for better stability or reliability. Windows XP is a mature, stable OS with a well-known list of weaknesses and corresponding work-arounds. On paper, Vista brings a better foundation, but in practice, it addresses problems that most customers weren't aware even existed, let alone needed fixing.[read more...]

4.Usability
Change, for change's sake, is never a good idea. And while you can understand Microsoft's desire to refresh the Windows UI (all those Mac OS X screen shots look so much prettier than XP), Vista's designers seem to have cut off their nose to spite their face. Regardless, the usability "improvements" in Vista are unlikely to make IT's list of compelling reasons to move away from XP anytime soon.[read more...]

5.Performance
Would you rather throw new hardware cycles at offsetting Microsoft's code bloat and voracious appetite for CPU bandwidth, or at a tangible, measurable improvement in application throughput and user productivity? Enough said[read more...]

6.Hard ware Compatibility
When's the last time you worried about driver support under Windows XP? With an installed base into the hundreds of millions, chances are you'll still be finding XP drivers long after Vista's grandchildren are being put out to pasture.[read more...]

7.Microsoft Software Compatibility
Windows XP is still, and likely will remain for some time, the compatibility bar for new Microsoft applications. If and when Microsoft attempts to create an exclusive Vista tie-in, the company will need to articulate some valid technical reason – one that stands up to scrutiny from the IT community – for not supporting Windows XP.[read more...]

8.Third-Party Software Compatibility
ISVs go where the money is, and right now that's still the generic Win32 API (plus MFC/ATL) running on the range of Windows platforms. The only exceptions to this rule are tools or utilities that target Vista-specific functions such as the new boot loader and sidebar widgets. The risk of missing out on important third-party application functionality by sticking with Windows XP is next to nil.[read more...]

9.Developer Tools Support
With most developers still targeting the Win32 API, and with virtually the entire .Net Framework 3.0 functionality back-ported to XP, there's simply no compelling reason to base your IDE on Windows Vista.[read more...]

10.Future Proofing
If ever there were an opportunity to skip a Windows upgrade cycle, the XP-to-Vista transition is it. XP may be showing its age, but its age is mainly skin deep: The new challenger is flashy, but also slower and heavier, and it lacks a killer combination of compelling features needed to unseat XP.[read more...]

What do Teens Today Really Worry About???

Teens today are more Diverse, Different from each other, More Responsible though sometimes sound careless, Care for Relationships and are constantly under stress to bring the best out of them. To stand the tough competition they got to have sound minds and yeah brave souls too..!!
They want to show the world what they are, they always look for the slightest hint to project themselves on this broader platform. But there are certain issues which they don't seem to sort out for themselves and they don't tend to share either and some of them are quite sensitive as well...
Here I would like to share some aspects --""What do teens today really worry about? And why aren’t these issues brought up more with parents, counselors and teachers who can actually give advice and seek help?""( A post that I had recently come across)

1) Relationships
Teens frequently want to talk to other teens about relationships with parents, siblings, friends and teachers. This is a broad topic I know, but interactions, building relationships and friendships are extremely important to teenagers.

2) Abuse
This includes sexual, physical, verbal and neglect as types of abuse. Many teens call in for ‘friends’ or people they know who are being abused to talk about what abuse actually means. Frequently, teens want to know where is the line between parents who are yelling and verbal abuse? What are the laws on spanking children?

3) Sex
Despite the attempts of many school health classes, teens have lots of questions about pregnancy, condoms, abstinence and oral sex.

4) Drugs and Alcohol
Issues with addiction and parties come up for teens when they know of friends who might be dealing or using drugs.

5) Suicide
Unfortunately, a great number of teens think, worry about or know someone who is considering suicide. Many times teens feel isolated and alone and need someone to talk to, but do not know where to turn when they might get in trouble or have to divulge secrets they are not ready to tell.

Surprisingly, Teenline gets an equal number of male and female callers. All kinds of teens today are dealing with these issues, not just girls, not just poor kids, not just rich kids, not just kids in private school…everyone is dealing with these important, and sometimes very serious issues.

For parents, maybe you are wondering—why your teen does not talk to you about these issues. Teens feel uncomfortable talking to adults because they feel they will not understand what is going on for them today, they are afraid they will get in trouble and worry that they will be judged.

Therefore, it is important for adults to be aware that even though teens might not act like drugs or sex is a big deal to them, they do actually worry about these issues.

Blaaze--The first Indian to be aired on VH1

So how many of you know about the man behind Rehman's rap section?? Well.. its the 'Lakshminarasimha Vijaya Rajagopala Seshadri Sharma Rajesh Raman' otherwise known as "Blaaze" --The Bunty aur Babli fame. The best Indian rapper who also incidentally becomes the first Indian to be aired on VH1 was born in Chennai and grew up in Zambia.

He is the lyricist of "Pray for me Brother" sung by Rehman and rapped by himself and he also rapped for Yuvan Shankar Raja , appeared in Boys, Rang De Basanti, Yuva, Vathiyaar, Vallavan, Shivaji, Boss and many more..

He has also sung a song called "Ban the crooked Police" (one of my favorite songs)[featuring: Lavanya] which is with his band Zambezi Funk (including Sagar Desai) based on his observations over the ever increasing crimes committed by the Indian police on normal people. He gives example of the Bilkis Bano rape during the gujarat riots, the Jessica Lall murder and the recent anti-reservation rallies in India which were not handled properly by the police. In one of the lines of the song he calls the police: Crooked, Rapist and Racist.

Most people think rap is all about `Yo Yo Yo.' To me Rap is `rhythm and poetry' and I try to spread a social message in a non-preachy way

Blaaze says he has reached where he is today with his parents' encouragement. His first stint in rapping happened during a presidential election campaign in Zambia where his father worked. "I wrote a poem about one of the candidates. My father, R.V. Raman, then took me to the television station and I rapped it out in front of the camera." The candidate won and it helped boost Blaaze's morale.

According to Blaaze, he always writes his own lyrics. "I think it's important especially for rap as you are saying what's in your head."

Lower Back- the most popular spot for tattoos

Every noww and then you find the jolies, the holmes, the simpsons, the lohans, the watsons, the jones flaunting their much hyped LBT's (Lower Back Tattoos) striking a chord with the Gen Next. The Tattoo has now became a hot commodity within the pop culture.

Lower back tattoos are more common among young women. The decoration of blues singer Janis Joplin with a wristlet and a small heart on her left breast, by the San Francisco tattoo artist Lyle Tuttle, is taken as a seminal moment in the popular acceptance of tattoos as art.

Tattoos as u all know is a permanent/temporary(sometimes) marking made by inserting ink into the layers of skin for decorative, spiritual and other purpose. Tattoo-since the word's first usage in the Captain James Cook diary in 1769 has been popular in many parts of the world. Even though the word is in usage only 350 years back this dynamic but tentative art has adorned many ancient scriptures. It is popularly used by traditional Japanese and Chinese people, the Polynesian groups, the Maori of New Zealand, parts of Europe,N.America and S.America, Philippines etc..,

History

The invention of tattoos was an accident.
Someone had a small wound, and rubbed it with soot and ashes from a fire. Once the wound had healed, they saw that a mark stayed permanently.

Glimpses of ancient tattooing can be found in Chinese literature-Egypt and India (Henna and Mehendi)-Pre-Christian Germanic, Celtic and other central and northern European tribes were often heavily tattooed-spiritual and decorative purposes in Japan-as a sign of respect for the dead and a symbol of reverence in Middle East.

Between 1766 and 1769 Tattoos were Reintroduced into the western world by Captain James Cook with his knowledge from the 'tattooed savages' he had seen during his voyage to Polynesian islands.

The Rise and Rise of Tattoos

Tattoos have experienced a resurgence in popularity in many parts of the world, particularly in North America, Japan, and Europe. This popularity provoked new advancements in the equipment used for tattooing. The growth in tattoo culture has seen an influx of new artists into the industry, many of whom have technical and fine art training. This popularity provoked new advancements in the equipment used for tattooing. The 2007 movie Eastern Promises about Russian Mafia highlighted the use of tattoos and the tattoo culture.

A poll conducted online in July 2003 estimated that 16% of all adults in the United States have at least one tattoo. Tattooing was ranked as the sixth fastest growing retail venture of the 1990s, establishing the tattoo industry as a hot property. A study by Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology found that 24% of Americans who were between the ages of 18 and 50 had a tattoo, which is almost one in four people in the United states.

Usage

Today, people choose to be tattooed for cosmetic, sentimental/memorial, religious, and magical reasons, and to symbolize their belonging to or identification with particular groups, including criminal gangs

For the sake of identification

  • People use tattoos to tell the world who they are and to which community they belong to. For example Māori chiefs sometimes drew their moko (facial tattoo) on documents in place of a signature.
  • Tattoos are sometimes used by forensic pathologists to help them identify burned, putrefied, or mutilated bodies
  • Tattoos for identification are also used on animals.Pet dogs and cats are often tattooed with a serial number (usually in the ear, or on the inner thigh) via which their owners can be identified

Cosmetics

Tattoos are a hot property in cosmetics now. They are extensively used to cover face marks, pimples, dislocations, moles, enhancing eyebrows/lips etc.., This is what we call Permanent Makeup.

Medicine

Medical tattoos are used to ensure instruments are properly located for repeated application of radiotherapy and for the areola in some forms of breast reconstruction. Tattooing has also been used to convey medical information about the wearer

Negative

In the United States many prisoners and criminal gangs use distinctive tattoos to indicate facts about their criminal behavior, prison sentences, and organizational affiliation.

Some Types of Tattoos:-

I have collected some innovative and intriguing tattoos which are popular among different groups and are named accordingly. Visit these links

Visit this link for the worlds most popular tattoo designs and their meanings

Techniques

  • The most common method of tattooing in modern times is the electric tattoo machine, which inserts ink into the skin via a group of needles that are soldered onto a bar, which is attached to an oscillating unit.
  • A technique often used for home made tattoos is "stick and poke". The tip of a sewing needle is wrapped in ink-soaked thread, leaving only the point protruding. Keeping this simple instrument saturated with ink, the skin is pricked over and over, creating a design.
  • Natural Tattoos-these tattoos are often formed accidentally owing to coal dust getting into wounds, due to gunpowder, implantation of amalgam particles during dental filling.
  • A wide range of dyes and pigments can be used in tattoos.

Risks Involved
  • Though tattooing is attractive and helpful in many ways there are some risks involved in it.
  • Uncareful tattooing sometimes leads to allergic reactions and infections.
  • Since tattoo instruments come in contact with blood and bodily fluids, diseases may be transmitted if the instruments are used on more than one person without being sterilized. However, infection from tattooing in clean and modern tattoo studios employing single-use needles is rare.
  • Infections that could be transmitted via the use of unsterilized tattoo equipment or contaminated ink include surface infections of the skin, herpes simplex virus, tetanus, staphInfected Tattoo), fungal infections, some forms of hepatitis, tuberculosis, and HIV.
  • But upto now no person in the United States is reported to have contracted HIV via a commercially-applied tattooing process.
  • There is also a small risk of anaphylactic shock (hypersensitive reaction) in those who are susceptible, but the chance of a health risk is small. The mechanism which is involved in tattooing is such that the tattoo inks have been described as "nonreactive histologically".
So with the influx of so many innovations and precautions in the field of tattooing the tattooists need not worry much about the risks involved in this art.

This art is certainly catching up fast with the young generation. Have fun tattooing atleast once yola !!!. Don't Worry even the so called permanent tattoos can be removed easily now.
