FALLOUT 3-The Most Awaited Game of the Year(2008)

After nearly 10 years, the Fallout series of games lives on.

Fallout 3 is being developed by Bethesda Game Studios, the same people behind the RPG gem Elder Scrolls IV: Obvilion, and a first glimpse into the game look promising.

Plot

Similar to previous Fallout games, Fallout 3 takes place in post-apocalyptic United States. The player character is a member of Vault 101, a fallout shelter serving in Washington D.C.. The player character lives with his father, but there is no mention of the mother, until, one day, the player wakes up finding that his father has left the vault and ventured into the wasteland for unknown reasons. The vault overseer gets suspicious that the player had something to do with the father's disappearance, so the character must go out into the wasteland in search of him.

In Fallout 3 players take the role of a vault dweller that is home to the surviving and former residents of Washington DC after the atomic war of 2077. A player's character is customized first by choosing a childhood path. Then on one day you will wake to find that your father has mysteriously left the vault. It's at this point that the player will venture out of the vault into the wasteland in searh of his father and the reason for his depature.

Players will also have a huge amount of freedom in Fallout 3, with a large open ended landscape they'll be able to travel nearly anywhere. Character progression, skill and ability gains can all be found in Fallout 3 along with plenty of eye candy graphics that are sure to impress.

Key Basics

First, here are some key basics about Fallout 3. Yes, it's a first-person game, but it also has a third-person camera if you like to play that way, and the camera can be moved so that it almost mimics the perspective of the original Fallout games. No, it's not a pure action shooter, though it can be played like a shooter in some ways, if you want. However, the game does rely on role-playing statistics to determine whether you hit or miss. More intriguingly, you can pause the combat at any time and target specific parts of an enemy's body, just like you could in the original Fallout games. And, yes, it's very much a role-playing game with hundreds of quests. While it only has a few hundred characters as opposed to the 1,500 in Oblivion, each of the characters in Fallout 3 will have his or her or its own distinct identity and dialogue. But we'll cover all of this in a bit.
